A Mommy's Daybook

Yesterday Jadon requested that we paint. I told him he had to wait until today. He was pretty excited to paint today. We started our letter B activities today so we painted our "B" blue. Once it is dry we will glue our brown bears on it.

Outside My Window-
It is cloudy but for February the temps are pretty good.  Can't complain too much about 40.  Could be much colder.

I Am Thinking-
About Jadon's b-day party, Jadon's three year pics, the fact that I have still not made his b-day shirt.  Darn this sickness!

I Am Wearing-
The usual sweats and long sleeve t-shirt.

From Tot School-
As I said we started our Letter B activities.  We continue to work on counting and number recognition.

I Am Thankful-
For antibiotics!  For my awesome fitness class.  All the ladies are so nice!

From The Kitchen-
I tried out a homemade wheat thins recipe this week so my hubby and I had something to eat some yummy Sundried Tomato Hummus we got on.  They turned out really good.

Matt has a vanilla porter in the carboy doing it's thing.  Lots of bubbling going on over there!  Go yeast go!

I Am Creating-
Not much.....in a funk.  Fingers crossed that I get Jadon's b-day shirt done!

I Am Reading-
Smokin' Seventeen (Stephanie Plum Series) by Janet Evanovich

I Am Hearing-
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse

Around The House-
I am trying to get the house in order for Jadon's party this weekend.

One Of My Favorite Things-
First thing that came to mind is my Lodge Enamel Coated Cast Iron Dutch Oven.  I have had mine for two years.  It is my favorite pot to cook in.  I used it several times a week.  Mostly on the stove but I love that I have the option to put it in the oven also!  Highly recommend gettting one of these bad boys!

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week-
Make a list of things I need to pick up for Jadon's party and then get all that stuff.  Decide what Jadon is going to wear for his three year pics on Sunday.  Make Jadon's three year b-day shirt.

Tonight we are going to look at a 55 gallon fish tank that someone has for sale.  Hoping we like what we see.  We have not had a fish tank in about 8 years at least and Matt and I decided that we really missed having one.  So we have been on the lookout for a used one.  This is the way to go if you find one in good shape because most of the time they come with everything and there is not much left to get but gravel, plants, and fish.   I know Jadon will love it.  The older two kids always loved looking at the fish when they were his age.  We took him to a pet store not long ago to look at fish and he was really loving it.

A Mommy's Daybook

Outside My Window- There was just a light dusting of snow when we woke this morning.  Saw a few more flakes fall throughout the morning.  It was cloudy most of the day.

I Am Thinking-
About how good Jadon has done potty training this week.  I am so proud of him.

Also wondering what chick flicks Shelby and I should watch this weekend while the boys are away on a Scout weekend.

I Am Wearing-
Same old same old.  Sweats and a t-shirt.  My job uniform of choice.

From Tot School Today-
We started our first letter lesson.  We read about Abby The Alligator then the boys cut out some alligators and glued them on a letter A.  After that we played the Parking Lot Game that I talked about in yesterday's post.

I Am Thankful-
That Jadon is doing so good at potty training and that we will not be spending a ton of money on diapers anymore.  I am also thankful that Jadon has been very cooperative with his evening stretches lately.  Tonight he turned the pages in a book with Lefty will I read and stretched out Righty at the same time.

From The Kitchen-
I found a whole wheat pancake mix to try.  Made and froze some for the kid's breakfasts for a few days.  We will see what they say about them then I will know if it is a keeper or not.

I Am Creating-
A printable alphabet bingo game to play with the boys.  Could not find one I liked on the internet.

I Am Reading-
Cookbooks.  Looking for new somewhat healthy recipes to try.  I love trying new things!

I Am Hearing-the washer run.  Have been doing a late load of laundry ever since we started potty training so we have enough undies to start fresh tomorrow.

Around The House-
The floors are in desperate need of my steam mop but I really don't feel like doing it.  Not that anyone cares just thought I would share.

One Of My Favorite Things-
Trying new recipes and learning new tricks in the kitchen.  Especially ones that save money and are also healthy.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week-

The boys (Matt and Jake) are going to stay at a camping lodge with the Boy Scouts for the weekend.  I am hoping to get some sewing projects done.  The boys have been playing with the one dinosaur tail I made a lot.  I really need to make a second one.  Not sure if I have enough fabric though.  This may need to wait a week.  I do have some fabric waiting to become number bean bags.  Fingers crossed I get those done this weekend!  Need to work on some cutting files for vinyl projects also.

A Mommy's Daybook

Outside My Window- It was a bright, sunny, very springlike day for the third day in a row. Very, very strange weather.

I am thinking- About what sayings I want to put on some signs I want to make to raffle off at a Boy Scout Spagetti Dinner that we are planning.

I am also thinking about Jadon's birthday coming up.   Need to decide where to get a cake.  Need to schedule an appointment for his pictures.  Think he is really going to have a fun b-day this year.  We have been talking a lot about how he is going to be 3 soon.  He has been telling people.

I am wearing- PJ's right now. Actually wore jeans instead of sweats today.

From the tot school- Continuing number recognition and counting. Planning on starting letters next week. Noticed that Jadon needs more practice with tracing and fine motor control so we will be doing more prewriting activities.

I am thankful- For insurance. Three of us went to the doctor yesterday. One for a sports physical, one for a nasty cough that ended up being bronchitis, and myself for my blood pressure. Ugh!

For my mother in law who came and played with the boys I watch while I took Jadon to his early childhood screening this morning.

From the kitchen- The kitchen is pretty quiet tonight. Have made beef broth and chicken broth this week. They are in the freezer. Planned on a making a loaf of whole wheat bread tonight but don't think I am going to get to it. Maybe tomorrow.

I am creating- My mom's perpetual b-day calendar still. Some printables for the kids.

I am reading- Still reading Girl Hunter. Have not been in much of a reading mood lately. Darn you Pinterest!!!

I am hearing-
Silence.  It is very quiet right now.  Jadon is looking at books.  Shelby and Jake are both in their rooms.  Matt is on his computer.

One of my favorite things-
I love smoothies this week!  They are a yummy treat while I am trying to eat healthy.

Around the house:

Found a duvet cover on the clearance shelves at Walmart that I like so I bought it.  Guess I can take making a duvet cover off my sewing list! It was just the cover and two pillow shams.  Put it on my bed last night and quickly noticed that I will be needing a new dust ruffle.  The green one from my last set was clashing bad with the new colors.  Yuck!  Adding that to the list of things to look for when we are out and about this weekend.

Prayers and Intentions for the rest of the week-
*Praying that I continue to stay on track with eating healthy.

*Praying that Jacob starts feeling better very soon and that he does well on his constitution test next week.

*No big plans for the rest of the week.  The beginning of this week was the busiest.

 Cuteness:
Jadon playing under a blanket.  He loves to do this lately.
Ms. Ella playing on the floor with some toys.

A Mom's Daybook

Has this seemed like a long week to anyone else? Ugh! Come on Friday!

Outside My Window-It was a cloudy, mild temperature winter day.

I am thinking-About so many things. Can't wait to see One For The Money this weekend. Went to the Gyn. Doctor today and my blood pressure was horrible. Had to make an appointment with my family doctor to see what he wants to do about it. The recommendation from the nurse practitioner today means that Matt and I have BIG decision to make. This is weighing on me tonight.   Know one thing for sure...if my blood pressure is starting to be a problem again it is time to get healthy once and for all.

I Am Wearing-A green cotton shirt , blue jeans, and the most comfortable pair of slippers I have ever owned.  Thank you Minnetonka.

I Am Thankful-For my husband.  I just love him so much.

From The Kitchen-Matt is making venison summer sausage tonight!  Yum!!  The Honey/BBQ meatloaf recipe I tried tonight was pretty good but the family all said they like my usual meatloaf recipe better.

I Am Creating-Did not get anywhere on my projects I wanted to do last weekend so those are still on the list for this weekend!

I Am Hearing-the sound of an Atari Pacman game as my husband plays it beside me.

Around The House-I need to get the area our treadmill and weigh lifting machine are in cleaned out so we can actually use them!!!

One Of My Favorite Things- Watching all three boys play the Atari.  Well....Jadon and Jacob had to take turns which Jadon did not like at all.  It was funny watching Matt try to teach Jadon how to play.

Plans and Intentions For The Rest Of The Week:

*It will be a year March 3rd since Jadon has his shoulder surgery.  Dr. Kozin wanted us to get an MRI done 1 yr. post op so I need to begin the process of scheduling that.  Fun, fun.  That is my goal for the rest of the week.

*Need to make some chili seasoning mix before my sister comes home this weekend.

Hope you had a great day!

A Mom's Daybook

Today was a busy busy day. My nephews came to play today. So there were a lot of crazy boys running around my house today. I have learned that the key to keeping the chaos under control is to keep them doing specific activities and not let them just run wild. We survived the day. I will say it went a lot better than I thought it would.
Here are all the crazy boys eating breakfast.
Mason is showing you his "angry face" which does not really look angry but it pretty darn cute.
Silly boy crawling under the easel.

I found some mom blogger's doing "A Mom's Daybook" last year and did it a few times.  I want to get it started again and I think that Wednesday is going to be the day.

Outside My Window-
It is sunny but very cold and windy.  The snow is all gone.  :(

I am thinking.....
that I really need to get to finishing my mom's birthday present.  And I need to go online and watch the Parenthood episode that aired Tuesday.

I am wearing......
A yellow long sleeve T and gray sweats.  My work attire.  When you get spit up on and are constantly cleaning up kid messes there is no reason to dress nice....just my opinion.

I am thankful.....

I got to spend the day with my nephews.  That they live close enough I get to be a part of their lives.

From The Kitchen...
Found a Cream of Anything Soup recipe via Pinterest!  Really excited to try it out!  That would be one less canned item I need to buy!  Hooray!

I am creating.....
I have fabric to make some pillows but first I want to try out my new fabric paints I got for Christmas.  I have picked out a few stencils I want to cut out using either freezer paper or vinyl and make some pretty designs on the pillows before I sew them together.

I am reading.....
 Link

She is so cool!  A trained chef that decided she wanted to know more about how the food got to the table so she started hunting.  Really enjoying the book so far!  Her website is HERE.

Around The House....
My husband is brewing a new batch of beer.  It is a little stinky in here when all that is going on.

A few plans for this week....
Not too many plans for this week.  Looking forward to having some friends over for dinner this weekend.  Just need to decide on the menu.  Thinking soups and sandwiches.

Before I go I want to share with you a funny pic from today.  My nephew and one of the boys I babysitt  for showed up in the same shirt!  It was so funny!  I snapped this pic of them together to send to the parents.  They got a kick out of the look on their faces.  What are they thinking?  Add your own caption.....
